The Grand Paris Express
Nearly three million passengers are set to travel every day on the Grand Paris Express. With 200 km of metro lines and 68 stations, 80% of which with connections, the network will make life easier for everyone in Paris region.
SERMs, a new deal for everyday mobility
A metropolitan regional express service (SERM) is a global mobility service, located outside the Île-de-France region, based on rail services and supplemented by other interconnected modes of transport. SERMs are designed to improve the quality of everyday transport, open up suburban areas and reduce air pollution.
The development of SERMs is a crucial component of ecological planning at local level. They are set to form an integral part of the national low-carbon strategy (SNBC), which calls for an increase in the modal share of rail and urban public transport to lower carbon emissions caused by everyday travel.
The law on metropolitan regional express services (SERM) of 18 December 2023 has granted the Société des grands projets extended powers nationwide. It can now take part in the development of SERM projects at the request of local authorities and the bodies responsible for organising transport.
